Why some tools are free and others are not
Converting a CSV to Excel, or stacking twelve files that already share their columns, is a commodity. Charging for it would be charging for something you can get elsewhere, so we do not — those tools work in full, for nothing, with no account.
What we charge for is the work that takes judgement: deciding that Item No and SKU are the same field, recognising that two customer records are the same person, reading four date formats out of one column, pulling a table out of a PDF. That is where the hours go, and it is what we are selling.
What you are charged for
The work your file actually needed, not the page you arrived through. A job on the cleanup tool that turns out to need no transformations is free; a conversion where you then asked us to fix the dates is not. You see which before you decide.
The part worth subscribing for
If a vendor sends you the same badly-formatted export every month, the expensive part is working out the mapping once. Save it, and next month is upload, convert, download — with no remapping and no thinking. That is what Pro is for.
